Recognizing the heritage of Mies van der Rohe's traditional orthogonal forms within the IIT campus, the basic massing of this structure is derived by horizontally twisting a box. It subsequently blurs the elevations, roof, and floors to create dynamic emotions intended to inspire students' innovative minds. The facade pattern is based on the interior program. The various ratios of glass to metal panelling along the warped membrane projects contrasting chiaroscuro qualities throughout the day.
